MicroBlog 11: Listening

“Do you ever get the feeling that the cameras are watching you?”

“Which ones?”

“You know, the ones in our phones and laptops.”

“Possibly, I’ve never thought about it before.”

“Makes you think, though, doesn’t it? Maybe they’re listening right now. I think they are, anyway. I always get adverts for stuff that I’ve mentioned in passing.”

“Could be a coincidence, I guess. Maybe your phone, but not your laptop. Hold on, do you have a laptop?”

“No, but that’s not the point.”

“I doubt laptops can hear us.”

“Look, that was just an example… wait a second…”

“Go on. I’m on the edge of my seat…”

“There! I bloody told you!”

“Ah. I see what you mean.”

“Exactly. Right there, on my bloody phone. An advert for a laptop! They don’t waste time, these tricky bastards!”

“Well, I can’t argue with that. Still, I don’t think laptops listen in.”

“That’s not the bloody point!”
